How to Play Saturday Lotto
Playing Saturday Lotto wherever you are in Australia is quick and simple. Follow the instructions below to find out how to take part. Each entry into a Saturday Lotto draw must consist of six numbers between 1 and 45. The minimum play is four games at a cost of $3.40. It’s simple to play - Just follow the steps below:
Pick up a playslip
Pick up a playslip for Saturday Lotto from your nearest lottery retailer anywhere in Australia. Please note that playslips for Superdraws and Megadraws are the same - you just need to enter the draw as normal.
Choose your numbers
Using a manual entry, quick pick or system entry, you need to choose six numbers from the pool of 1-45. If you choose a Quick Pick/SlikPik, these will be generated automatically for you. You can select fewer or more than six numbers and tick the System Entry box.
Check how many plays you need to enter
Depending on the method of entry that you have chosen, you will need to make sure you're entering the correct amount of plays. If you're playing a manual entry or Quick Pick, you'll need to fill in four games, but if you're playing a System Entry you only need to fill in one.
Choose your number of draws
After you've confirmed your numbers, you'll need to decide how many draws to enter. You can enter between 1 and 10 consecutive draws whenever you play. It's also possible to set up a subscription which renews for all future draws until cancelled.
Pay for your entries
Once you're happy with your selections, pay for your tickets at the checkout. The retailer will then hand you the printed ticket with your chosen numbers on. All that's left to do is to sit back and wait for the next Saturday Lotto results to be drawn.
If you want to enter via Quick Pick/Slikpik then you can usually just go to the counter and ask the server for a Saturday Lotto Quick Pick/Slikpik and avoid the hassle of filling in a playslip.
Types of Entry
Find out more information below about the different methods available for choosing your numbers or entering Saturday Lotto.
Quick Pick / Slikpik
A Quick Pick / Slikpik entry will randomly choose the six numbers for you, taking the difficult decision out of your hands. This is the most common type of entry, and you can use our Saturday Lotto Number Generator to create your own set of random numbers.
Marked Entry
This involves choosing the six numbers yourself. Most players use birthdays or other significant dates when entering this way, but you are free to choose any numbers you wish. If you are unable to choose six numbers on all four games required to meet the minimum number for a ticket, then you can use the Quick Pick entry for the remaining games.
System Entry
System entries involve choosing between 7 and 20 numbers and purchasing a ticket covering every six-number combination within that range. So, if you choose a System 7 entry with the numbers 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, then you would buy seven games with the numbers below:
Play 1: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 |
Play 2: | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Play 3: | 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Play 4: | 1 | 2 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Play 5: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 5 | 6 | 7 |
Play 6: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 6 | 7 |
Play 7: | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 7 |
You can choose to play up to 20 numbers this way, but be aware that it can quickly become expensive due to the number of games you need to buy to cover each combination.
You can also play Pick entries, where you only choose either four or five numbers. Those numbers are then matched with every combination of the remaining 40 or 41 numbers, with a separate entry for each. For example, if you play a Pick 5 entry and choose the numbers 1-2-3-4-5, you would play 40 games in total, with the following numbers:
- 1-2-3-4-5-6
- 1-2-3-4-5-8
- 1-2-3-4-5-9…
…and so on all the way up until:
- 1-2-3-4-5-43
- 1-2-3-4-5-44
- 1-2-3-4-5-45
The table below shows you how many games you would need to buy for each level of Pick and System entry:
Type of Entry | Number of Games |
---|---|
Pick 4 | 820 |
Pick 5 | 40 |
System 7 | 7 |
System 8 | 28 |
System 9 | 84 |
System 10 | 210 |
System 11 | 462 |
System 12 | 924 |
System 13 | 1,716 |
System 14 | 3,003 |
System 15 | 5,005 |
System 16 | 8,008 |
System 17 | 12,376 |
System 18 | 18,564 |
System 19 | 27,132 |
System 20 | 38,760 |
Syndicate
Playing as a syndicate involves buying and sharing the cost of Lotto tickets with other players and then sharing any prizes won equally amongst all the players in the syndicate. This method of playing is popular because you can get far more entries into a draw without spending a large amount of money to do so. Visit the Syndicates page to find out more.
How to Win Saturday Lotto
You need to match all six main numbers to win a share of the Saturday Lotto jackpot, but you can also win by matching as few as three main numbers. Two supplementary numbers are also selected in each draw to create extra prize divisions, so there are six ways to win in total. Go to the Dividends page for more information.
