Oz Lotto Player Wins $10 Million To Help Partner Quit Work

Last Updated: Friday 2nd February 2018, 12:48 pm

A woman from Myrtle Bank in Adelaide has revealed that she bought a ticket for Tuesday’s OZ Lotto draw because her partner was not happy at work, and it paid off handsomely as they won the $10 million Division One prize.

The winning Oz Lotto numbers were 2, 5, 12, 24, 31, 40 and 45, with supplementary numbers 16 and 30. There were over 300,000 prize winners in the draw, but the main target for players across Australia was to match all seven main numbers and grab the multimillion-dollar jackpot.

One ticket holder claimed the jackpot, and the lucky lady told SA Lotteries that it felt ‘crazy’ to think she was now a millionaire. The woman, who has chosen to keep her identity private, said: “I don’t usually check my tickets, but my partner isn’t happy at work which is why I bought the ticket. So I said, hang on let me just check online if we won. I logged on and saw we had won and thought it must just be a few dollars. Then I saw the amount and thought this can’t be right.”

The happy couple celebrated with a bottle of champagne and they are now looking forward to a bright future for the whole family. While the lucky lady has no plans to quit her job, her partner will be able to give his up and they will be able to pay off the house before they think about what else to do with the money.

$55 Million Powerball Prize Still Unclaimed

While the winners from Myrtle Bay can begin to consider their plans for an exciting future, the Melbourne player who won $55 million on Powerball earlier this month has still not come forward. The ticket for the draw on Thursday 11th January was bought at Scole Lotto & News, Shop 6, 90-106 Sydney Rd, Brunswick, but the entry was unregistered and as such there has been no way to track down the winner.

Tatts spokeswoman Elissa Lewis said it was the largest unclaimed prize in Australia lottery history, and urged ticket holders to check their numbers. She said: “The possibilities ahead for the mystery winner are endless and we have been anxiously waiting for the holder of the ticket to check their ticket, realise it’s won them $55 million and come forward to claim their prize.”
