One Ticket Holder Wins $50 Million Oz Lotto Jackpot

A single ticket holder has won a massive $50 million Oz Lotto jackpot in the draw on 15th October. It has already been revealed that the ticket was bought in New South Wales and now the wait is on for the winner to come forward and claim their prizes.
Third-Biggest Oz Lotto Jackpot of 2019
The Oz Lotto jackpot had gone six weeks without a winner going into Tuesday’s draw, and there were a lot of eyes on the top prize after it hit $50 million. It was the third-biggest Oz Lotto jackpot of the year, after a $70 million prize on 26th March and an $80 million jackpot on 25th June.
The winning Oz Lotto numbers from the 15th October draw were 5, 13, 20, 22, 25, 32, and 42, with the supplementary numbers 21 and 23. Over $67 million in prize money was given away on the night, including the $50 million that went to one lucky NSW player. Other winners on the night included 12 players who matched six numbers and a supplementary to win over $42,000 each.
Bronwyn Spencer, a spokesperson for The Lott, said: “Someone has become an overnight mid-week multi-millionaire but possibly doesn’t know it yet. We can’t wait for them to discover this winning news!
“Just imagine how $50 million might change your life and the lives of your nearest and dearest,” she added.
The mystery winner is not a registered player so nothing is known about them and if they have not checked their numbers they might not even know that they have won. The Lott stated that they will reveal the area in which the winning ticket was bought at 11am AEST on Wednesday if no one comes forward to claim the eight-figure prize before then.
Biggest Ever Oz Lotto Winners
The $50 million won in Tuesday’s draw is a huge amount of money, but it’s still less than half the amount that the biggest winner received. Below are the top three biggest Oz Lotto jackpots ever won.
$111 million – 6 November 2012
The jackpot for the draw on 6th November 2012 was originally set at $100 million but due to a record number of entries the prize money was boosted to $111 million. The jackpot was split by four winning tickets, with each of them taking home just under $28 million. Two of the winning entries were purchased in Victoria, with the other two coming from New South Wales and Queensland.
$106 million – 30 June 2009
This $106 million jackpot in June 2009 was the biggest lottery prize to have ever been given away at the time and was shared by two ticket holders. One of the winning entries was bought in Queensland and another from South Australia. One in three Australians were estimated to have bought entries for the draw and retailers had to stay open late to accommodate the demand for tickets.
$80 million – 25 June 2019
The Oz Lotto jackpot almost reached $100 million almost ten years to the day since the game’s first ever nine-figure prize was won. In the end the jackpot was won by two tickets – both from Queensland – after hitting $80 million in June 2019. One of the winners, who remained anonymous, struggled to come to terms with the amount of money she had just won. “I don’t think much will change”, she told lottery officials. “Tomorrow will just be the same old thing. I’ve still got to do the school drop off. I just don’t know. I just can’t think.” The win brought to an end eight weeks of rollovers
