Mackay Winner Swears Off Ironing as she Becomes Set for Life

A great many lottery players dream about the things they’d do or buy if they won big, but Set for Life’s newest jackpot winner was more concerned with cutting something out of her life than adding to it.
After bagging the first prize of $20,000 every month for the next 20 years in the draw on Sunday 6th November, the anonymous Set for Life winner from Mackay, Queensland, excitedly told the lottery’s operators that she would be swearing off ironing — the very chore she was in the middle of when she received their call — for good.
“I don’t mind doing the cleaning but I hate ironing,” the newly Set for Life wife reportedly told Golden Casket, “so that’s it, I’m done.” With the iron cord cut, the lucky winner now has plans to employ someone else to do all of her ironing for her. The winner’s husband, meanwhile, has his sights set on an equally modest treat for himself: a car with a built-in parking monitor. “All I want more than anything in the world is for my new car to have a reversing camera,” he said of his lottery dreams; “I’ve got very simple taste!”
The lucky couple, both of whom are already retired, said that they had won lots of smaller prizes in the lottery over the years, having played Set for Life since it first began in August 2015, but this was their first big win. They purchased their life-changing 10-set Quick Jumbo QuickSET ticket from Nextra Caneland News & Gift, Shop 2066 in Caneland Central — a location that’s sure to see an increase in footfall now that it has created a First Division winner.
The winning numbers for the 458th Set for Life draw were 8, 14, 24, 18, 32, 9, 23 and 37, with the Bonus numbers 27 and 25 and you can see the full prize breakdown at the Lottery Results page.
