UK Lotto
Lotto is one of the UK’s most popular National Lottery games which draws every Wednesday and Saturday at 8:00pm GMT. The jackpot starts at £2 million on a Wednesday and £3.8 million on a Saturday and has been known to reach £10 million very quickly.
How to Play Guide
Playing UK Lotto from Australia is easy. As you can only purchase physical tickets in the UK, a service like Jackpot.com would be used to play. This allows you to place bets on the numbers you think will be drawn in the UK Lotto.

$7 Million!*
Follow this step-by-step guide on how to play UK Lotto online and make sure you choose those numbers before the ticket sales close at 7:30pm GMT on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
- Create an account – Clicking on the play banners for UK Lotto will take you to the service provider where you can then create an account and begin playing.
- Choose Your Numbers - Simply select six numbers from 1 to 59. You have a choice of playing your own numbers or playing a Lucky Dip. Similar to Quick Picks, Lucky Dips are randomly generated numbers chosen for you. Remember, the chances of winning are the same whichever style of playing you choose.
- How Many Lines? - Decide how many lines you want to play in the draw. Playing multiple lines increases your chances of winning a prize.
- Which Draw? - Choose which draw you would like to play in. Draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It is possible to subscribe to future draws which means you would be entered into draws automatically.
- Purchase your entries - Make sure you’ve paid and entered before the cut off time on the night of the draw.
- Relax - Sit back, relax and wait for the results to come in.
Bonus Ball
Seven numbers are drawn in the UK Lotto which may seem confusing as you only choose six. This is because a Bonus Ball is drawn. You do not select a number for the Bonus Ball when purchasing an entry as the aim is to match it with one of the six numbers you have already chosen.
Two Rounds Per Draw
Since June 2026, UK Lotto has had two rounds per draw. You don’t have to select another set of numbers – instead, the numbers from your ticket are entered into two rounds to give you an extra chance to win.
Six numbers from 1 to 59 are drawn at random in the first round, followed by a Bonus Ball. The second round takes place moments later, with six more main numbers and a Bonus Ball drawn. The draws are separate events, so some of the same numbers might appear in both.
How to Win
To win the UK Lotto jackpot you must match the six numbers on your ticket to the winning numbers drawn. You can win a prize from matching as little as two main numbers to win £1. Prize values increase as more numbers are matched.
Must Be Won Draws
‘Must Be Won’ draws take place after the jackpot has rolled over five times (five draw nights) in a row. The following draw must be won and if no-one manages to match all six main numbers (in either round of the draw), the jackpot amount rolls down.
The prize for Match 2 winners in a rolldown is a fixed £5 instead of £1. Match 3 winners may also receive an enhanced prize if jackpot funds are still available after the Match 2 winners have been paid out.
Dividends
The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 22,528,738. All the UK Lotto prizes beneath the jackpot are fixed. The prizes range from £1 to the Match 5 plus the Bonus Ball prize of £1 million.
The table below shows the odds of winning in all six divisions along with the prize amounts to be won. The chances of winning are twice as good as they were when only one set of numbers was selected on each draw night.
