Wednesday Lotto Dividends and Odds

Wednesday Lotto offers a Division 1 prize of $1 million per winner, plus five other ways to win. To get a payout, you must match your six numbers to the winning numbers selected in the Wednesday Lotto draw.

In each Wednesday Lotto draw, eight numbers from 1 to 45 are randomly selected. The six main numbers are drawn first, followed by two supplementary numbers. The best you can do is match all six main numbers. Achieve this and you win the Division 1 prize of $1 million.

You don’t have to share the $1 million prize if there are multiple winners, but there is a limit of $4 million that can be paid out to players in Division 1. If more than four participants win, the $4 million prize fund has to be split equally between them.

If you don’t match all the main numbers, you can still win in one of the other five prize divisions. Even if you just match one main ball and both supplementary numbers, you receive a payout.

The following table shows all the dividends, odds of winning and how the prize fund is split between all the divisions, along with the average payout for each category.

How to Claim a Wednesday Lotto Prize

If you win a prize, the next step is to claim it. You can only claim prizes in the same state where you purchased the original ticket, and what you need to do depends on how much you have won. For the majority of prizes, it is as simple as taking your entry to your local newsagency or convenience store so that it can be cashed in.

For larger prizes, you will need to go to your local lottery head office in person or claim by post. Go to the How to Claim page for more information about claiming prizes based on the amount you have won and where you played. The deadline for claiming prizes also varies in different parts of Australia.
