Six Players Claim Saturday Lotto Superdraw Jackpot

Last Updated: Tuesday 14 May 2019, 11:35 am

Six players have matched all six numbers to win the first prize in the Australia Saturday Lotto. The Saturday Lotto draw on May 11th was a Superdraw, meaning the winners will share an inflated jackpot of $20 million.

The numbers for the 11th May Saturday Lotto Superdraw were 17, 27, 28, 32, 34, 44, with supplementary numbers 8 and 22. Six players won the Division 1 prize, entitling them each to a $3.3 million share of the prize.

Three Saturday Lotto Superdraw Winners in Queensland

Three of the tickets were sold in Queensland; one such winner was a North Lakes woman, whose Mother’s Day celebrations were improved by her shock win. She had bought her ticket from Nextra Warner, on Samsonvale Rd, and was prompted to check her numbers after opening Mother’s Day cards in the morning. “I got my ticket out and started circling the winning numbers, and I had them all in game one,” she explained. “I couldn’t believe it. […] I was wondering all day if it was real. It was an amazing Mother’s Day present.”

She revealed that she had been renting homes her whole life, and expected to never be able to afford a house of her own: “I’ve always dreamt of just buying a new home and furnishing it beautifully, so now I’ll be able to do that.”

“The Best News For My Family”

The other two Queensland winners were women from Broadbeach; one had bought their ticket online, and the other had bought their ticket from Resort News, at Pacific Fair. When notified of her jackpot win by lottery officials, the Pacific Fair ticket holder was ecstatic: “This is the best news for my family. It’s just amazing. This is life-changing! I can’t believe this is happening!”

Two of the winning tickets were purchased in Victoria; a Melbourne mum came forward on Tuesday morning to collect her prize, after purchasing a winning ticket from Delahey Village Lotto in the north. The owner of a ticket sold at St Albans Lotto & Newsagency in North-West Melbourne came forward on Wednesday, claiming he had known about his win since the draw, but didn't "have the time" to make himself known: "We've been running around, getting organised. It's been a crazy few days."

Missing Jackpot Winner

Prior to the Victoria jackpot winners coming forward, a spokesperson from The Lott was asked to comment on the missing jackpot winners: “The Victorian winners are the last pieces of the puzzle, and we are standing by to unite these winners with their prizes.” Both Victoria tickets were unregistered at the point of purchase, making it impossible for officials to contact the winners and notify them.

A Western Australia winner has also come forward, but has not yet made a statement about the big payout.

What is the Saturday Lotto Superdraw?

The Saturday Lotto Superdraw is a special event, which takes place several times a year. It is played in just the same way as a regular Saturday Lotto draw, but the jackpot is increased to at least$20 million – giving you the chance to clinch an even bigger prize.
