Queensland Woman Wins Two Top Prizes With Same Numbers

A woman from Queensland who accidentally entered the same numbers twice into the same Saturday Lotto draw has benefited from the mistake after both tickets won the Division One prize. The lucky lady, from Cairns in the north of the state, was therefore able to double her stake in the $4 million jackpot and claim over $1.3 million rather than $674,000 after the prize was split six ways.
The big winner, who has decided to stay anonymous, admitted to ‘freaking out’ when she realised she had won and had to double check with her sister. She said in the Courier Mail: “It wasn’t until after I got off the phone with my sister that I saw I had another winning entry in the weekend’s draw and I freaked out all over again!”
The numbers were selected because they meant something special to the player, but she selected both of her registered Saturday Gold Lotto games instead of just one. She is now looking forward to buying a house and enjoying her winnings with the rest of her family.
Saturday Lotto, known as Gold Lotto in Queensland and X Lotto and TattsLotto in other parts of Australia, has six prize tiers and offers a minimum jackpot of $4 million. The Oz Lotto jackpot has soared to $25 million after a rollover on Tuesday, while another $4 million will be up for grabs in the next Saturday Lotto draw. If you want purchase a ticket, or perhaps two, you can play online from wherever you are in the world or by visiting an authorised retailer in Australia.
