Powerball Jackpot Hits $50 Million

The biggest Australian National Lottery prize of the year will be up for grabs in the next Powerball draw after it surged to $50 million.
No tickets have matched all seven winning numbers, plus the Powerball, since two players split $20 million on 21st January. There were more than 1 million prizes given away in the latest draw on Thursday, but again the $30 million jackpot remained out of reach.
It will now jump up a massive $20 million, almost doubling in value in the space of a week. It’s the first time since last July that such a big prize has been seen in Division 1, and lottery officials know just what it would mean to anyone who wins.
Bronwyn Spencer, spokesperson for lottery operator The Lott, said: “If one person scores next Thursday’s entire jackpot they will be the first to win that exact amount in nearly three years.
“When the Canberra man discovered the news, he said he was completely dumbfounded, and he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.
“I’m sure that if someone scores the $50 million Powerball jackpot up for grabs next week they will be in the exact same situation - it’s sure to put a smile on anyone’s face!”
There were 14 jackpot winners in 2020, who pocketed a combined $470 million. The Division 1 prize reached $80 million on two occasions last year, while in the past it has even gone as high as $150 million.
It won’t take too long for it to nine figures again at its current speed, but millions of Australians will be hoping to land Thursday’s $50 million jackpot before it climbs again. Make sure to take part now and then check the Powerball Results to find out if you are a winner.
