New Year’s Eve Megadraw To Offer $40 Million Jackpot
Last Updated: Tuesday, 14 December 2021, 09:10am
The upcoming edition of the annual Megadraw is set to be the biggest event of its kind in Saturday Lotto history, with the Division 1 prize going up to $40 million.
Megadraws only take place once a year, just after Christmas, and offer an even larger jackpot than the Superdraws which happen every couple of months. They are traditionally worth around $30 million, but this year you could win a share of even more cash.
When is the next Megadraw?
The $40 million Megadraw will be held on New Year’s Eve, so as a special one-off the Saturday Lotto draw will actually take place on a Friday. Ticket sales will close at 7:30 AEST, with the numbers drawn around an hour later.
The draw will be televised on 7TWO and affiliated regional stations. You can also keep an eye on the Saturday Lotto Results page to see the winning numbers as soon as they are available.
To win a share of the jackpot, you have to match all six of the main numbers. If you miss out on the top prize, there are five other prize divisions the same as any other draw. You need to match at least three out of six numbers to win.
Megadraws attract millions of players from across Australia. In fact, it is estimated that around one in three adults buy at least one ticket. With favourable odds of winning compared to some other games, it is not uncommon for multiple players to win a share of the jackpot.
In the last Megadraw, which took place on 2nd January 2021, there was a Division 1 prize of $30 million up for grabs and 19 players split the money. Each winner received more than $1.5 million. There were also more than 4.2 million prizes paid out across the other five divisions.
Megadraws have taken place every year since 2003 and created hundreds of millionaires. You can give yourself a chance to win the next one now, then check the results straight after the draw to see how lucky you have been.
