A woman from Bogan Shire in western New South Wales has become the latest Powerball winner, picking up the entire $10 million Division 1 prize pool in the draw on Thursday 25th August. The winner wished to remain anonymous after claiming the huge windfall and says she will use some of the cash to renovate her house in the shire, which boasts a population of just over 3,000.
The lucky ticket holder told lottery officials, “my family makes do, but our world has definitely changed now that I’ve won Powerball.” She said she would share the prize with her loved ones once she had paid off some bills and would then begin to plan for the future. Her ticket correctly matched the winning Powerball numbers 12, 22, 24, 25, 32 and 39 with Powerball 11 and you can see the full prize breakdown from the draw at the Powerball Results page.
Graham Jackson and Angela Smith, who own the Nyngan Newsagency, admitted they didn’t realise they had sold the Division 1-winning entry until they received a call from another shopkeeper to congratulate them. They told the Daily Telegraph, ““We’d like to congratulate our division one winning customer and we wish them all the best in the future as a new multi-millionaire.”
There are more exciting chances to win an Australian lottery fortune this week with Oz Lotto worth $2 million, a $3 million prize pool for Powerball and a massive $21 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw at the weekend. The last Superdraw landed on 30th July, when 15 players shared a $20 million pot.
You can play Saturday Lotto online through the Buy Tickets page or visit any lottery retailer across the country. Good luck!
