Australia Powerball and Oz Lotto Give Away Massive Jackpots

Last Updated: Monday 16th November 2015, 11:43 am

Australian lottery players have enjoyed a tremendous week after huge jackpots were won on both Powerball and Oz Lotto. There were three lucky ticket holders who split $70 million in Australia Powerball on Thursday 12th November, after one player pocketed the First Division prize of $35 million on Oz Lotto.

The winning Powerball numbers were 1, 3, 15, 19, 26 and 35 with Powerball 18. It was the largest jackpot of 2015 and another rollover would probably have helped eclipse the previous all-time record of $80 million, but players rushed out in droves to enter the game and three ticket holders each ended up claiming $23.3 million.

The winning tickets were bought in Illawarra in New South Wales, Ayr in north Queensland and Perth in Western Australia. It was estimated that more than 1,000 tickets were being sold a minute in Western Australia in the build-up to the draw and a young engaged couple from Perth’s southern suburbs are now celebrating an eight-figure windfall.

The Powerball jackpot was won just two days after a run of five Oz Lotto rollovers came to an end. The Oz Lotto numbers drawn on Tuesday 10th November were 20, 22, 23, 25, 33, 34 and 36 with supplementary numbers 13 and 21.

The winner, who bought their ticket from South West Rocks Newsagency on Paragon Avenue in New South Wales, has decided to remain anonymous. Peter Deans, the owner of the shop, said: “Crikey! That’s massive! We’ve sold a few Division One winning entries over the years, including one in Powerball, but $35 million is the biggest prize by far.”

The winning feeling continued into the weekend as 12 players split $4.1 million on Australia Saturday Lotto, while one participant also scooped the $1 million top prize in Australia Monday Lotto on 16th November. To play any Australian lottery, you can buy tickets online from anywhere in the world or visit an authorised retailer if you are in Australia. Good luck!
