Australia Lottery News Roundup: Monday Lotto Jackpot Won; Record Powerball Jackpot

Last Updated: Wednesday 17 July 2019, 12:11 pm

It’s been a big week for Australian lotteries this week, with jackpots being won, records being set, and winners coming forward to boot. Here is a round-up of the latest lottery news from across the country.

Monday Lotto Jackpot Has Been Won

The Monday Lotto draw on the 15th July saw a single ticket-holder match all six main numbers to scoop the $1 million jackpot. Over 78,000 players won a prize in the draw, with 11 matching five main numbers and a Supplementary number to win $5,450. The numbers for the 15th July Monday Lotto draw were 6, 11, 21, 24, 35 and 40, with supplementary numbers 14 and 44.

The jackpot-winning ticket was bought from a newsXpress in Hillarys, Perth, making the jackpot the 32nd First Division prize won in Western Australia in 2019. The ticket holder has not yet come forward to claim their prize.

Wednesday Lotto Jackpot Winner Comes Forward After Nearly Five Weeks

A mystery Wednesday Lotto jackpot winner has finally come forward to collect their prize, five weeks after the winning draw. The 12th June Wednesday Lotto draw saw over 89,000 players win a prize, with one player winning the entire $1 million jackpot. The ticket was revealed to have been sold in a C&T Newsagency in Cabramatta, Sydney, but no one initially came forward.

The jackpot winner finally came forward on Tuesday 16th July, 34 days after their numbers came up. They chose to remain anonymous when collecting their winnings.

Record Powerball Jackpot Could be Won in Upcoming Draw

Anticipation is growing for the Powerball draw on Thursday 18th July, after last week’s announcement that the jackpot has increased to $110 million – the largest single Powerball jackpot since the game began in 1996.

The jackpot is likely to increase even more before the 18th July draw, as the predicted swell in ticket sales could add enough money to the Prize Fund to create another record. The current record for largest ever jackpot in Australian lottery history is $111 million, an Oz Lotto jackpot won by four tickets in 2012; if enough tickets are sold ahead of the Thursday Powerball draw, the new jackpot could set a new record for the largest ever Australian lottery jackpot.
