There were four winning tickets for the draw on Saturday 23rd May - one sold in Queensland, one in South Australia and two in Victoria. Each lucky entry matched the numbers 1, 21, 25, 30, 32 and 45.

The leader of the syndicate that bought the ticket in South Australia, where Saturday Lotto is known as X Lotto, was stunned to receive a telephone call from lottery operator The Lott after the draw.

She revealed that she was already aware of the big win but had not yet told her colleagues. She said: “I discovered the news early Sunday morning but haven’t told anyone yet. I just wanted to make sure it was real.”

Having played a System 7 entry, the group also won six prizes in Division 3 to boost their overall prize by an extra $6,814. Everyone in the group is set to receive more $112,000 once the win has been processed.

“We’ve been playing this syndicate for about 12 years now. Always with the same numbers,” said the group leader. “We all chose a few numbers ourselves, and then let the terminal choose the rest.

“This is going to change so many lives. There are a few of us who have been struggling a bit lately. I’m going to call a meeting right after we hang up and tell everyone the good news.”

Thinking about how she might spend her winnings, the winner said it would be used to safeguard her long-term financial security. “I’d say most of us will be making a big payment towards our mortgages,” she explained.

“There also might be a few holidays in there as well. We’ll just have to make sure we don’t all go at once!”

The winning entry was sold at OTR Peterhead, 107-11 Victoria Road, Peterhead. A spokesperson for the store said: “Our OTR team is thrilled to hear that one of our customers has won at our OTR stores. Congratulations from OTR to our winners! We wish them all the very best with their prize.”
