Wednesday Lotto Winner To Rebuild Home Lost in Bushfire

A man from Mount Cotton in Queensland has hailed his $1 million Wednesday Lotto win as a ‘miracle’, as it will allow him to rebuild a family home that burned down in the bushfires.
The winner held the only ticket to match all six main numbers - 9, 11, 13, 22, 24 and 42 - on 8 January. Contacted by a Golden Casket official the following morning, he revealed just why it was such an emotional moment.
While he lives in Queensland, he also has a property in New South Wales which has felt the full force of the blaze raging across the state. Stunned to become an instant millionaire, the winner said the money would make a huge difference and also paid tribute to his wife.
He said: “My family just lost their home in the bushfires in northern New South Wales and it wasn’t insured, so thank you very much. This is amazing. Wow. This is so good. I had no idea at all.
“I can’t wait to go home and give my wife a big kiss and a cuddle. The entry was marked with her special numbers and now they’ve delivered in a big way. This is a miracle!”
The winner, who purchased his ticket online, has decided to remain anonymous rather than let his identity be revealed. He is now hoping that brighter times will be ahead following such a difficult period.
“This really has come at the most incredible time,” he said. “All that was left of the home was a few charred teacups. We didn’t know if we would ever be able to rebuild but now we definitely can. This is amazing. I can’t get over it.”
Big Wednesday Lotto Winners
There were over 111,000 winners across all six prize divisions in the latest draw, including nine players who matched five main numbers plus one of the supplementary balls to win $7,967 each. Check out the full Wednesday Lotto Results for more details about the draw.
Wednesday Lotto offers a jackpot of $1 million per winner in every draw. This is guaranteed for up to four players; if there are more than four winners, the maximum Division 1 prize fund of $4 million will be split between everyone who matches all six main numbers.
The game has already created four new millionaires in the two draws to have taken place in 2020, with two from South Australia and one from Western Australia on New Year’s Day and now the winner from Queensland.
